A group of 23 children had great fun helping make the South Luffenham Bug Hotel.

The youngsters were at the Pond Close conservation site in the village on Saturday and were helped by David Cole, of Rutland Water Nature Reserve who arrived with pallets, drilled logs, leaves, branches and other materials.

Parish councillor Claudi Cockburn, who with fellow councillor Carol Breden, organised the event, said the children absolutely loved it.

“They got a bit mucky but had great fun helping David create a diverse wildlife habitat for insects and other creatures to shelter.”

Lisa and Sammie Cutmore supplied much-needed hot chocolate.
