Children took centre stage for a Maypole dancing display to close a village fete.

Hundreds of people enjoyed Braunston May fair on Bank Holiday Monday where the duck race was particularly popular and stall-holders reported a roaring trade.

Money raised will be split between the village hall, the church and Rutland Sailability.

Organisers are now looking forward to their silver jubilee event next year.

Treasurer Jane Ritchie-Smith said: “We hope the event will carry on for many years to come.

“Everyone in the village enjoys the day and it’s a lovely way to keep some old traditions alive while introducing some new attractions to the village.”
