A BEAUTIFUL village garden was opened on Sunday, raising £214 for charity.

Chris and Tim Bladon opened their garden in Wendover Close, Rippingale, in aid of the National Gardens Scheme, which raises funds for gardening and nursing charities.

Chris said that despite the glorious sunshine, numbers were down on last year.

She said she was still pleased with the amount raised.

Chris said: “I think there’s a lot going on at the moment with the jubilee so maybe that was why it wasn’t as busy as last year.

“But with entry and afternoon teas, we raised £214. I do enjoy doing it.”

Chris is a keen gardener and the garden, which is set in about half an acre, has some unusual herbaceous plants, along with shrubs and trees.

She described it as a peaceful garden and it always attracts a lot of interest when it is opened to raise money for charity.
