Churches around the county will be open this weekend for the Rutland Ride and Stride event.

The Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust is hosting the event on Saturday which will see people cycle and walk around as many churches as possible to raise money for their upkeep.

For the first time since the event started in 1988, people can also take part by car.

Organiser Richard Adams said: “The Ride and Stride provides an ideal opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to see our wonderful heritage of church buildings and to help raise money.”

Sixty-four churches will open for the event on Saturday between 10am and 6pm.

Visit www.www.rhcpt.co.uk/rutland-ride-and-stride for more details or to use the route-planner to make sure you can visit as many buildings as possible.

The last event in 2011 raised £19,000 for the preservation trust.
