PEOPLE affected by the riots in London will benefit from the proceeds of a series of church coffee mornings.

PEOPLE affected by the riots in London will benefit from the proceeds of a series of church coffee mornings.

Members of St Thomas Becket Church in Greatford held the first of three coffee mornings on Saturday last week in the church to raise money for people affected by the rioting in London and other areas in July.

Elizabeth Ashby, one of the organisers of the event, said: “The morning went well and we had quite a few visitors.

“We just wanted to do something to help people affected by the riots.”

The money raised, which is still being counted, will be added to the proceeds at two more coffee mornings. They will be held between 10am and 11.30am on Saturday, October 1 and Saturday, November 5.
