THE rain could not stop the residents of Collyweston marking the Queen’s diamond jubilee today (Sunday).
The celebrations were held in the village hall as more than 100 people crammed inside for a broad selection of food which was put on by the village pub, the Collyweston Slater.
Shelagh Busby, of Westonville, who helped organise the event, said: “We’ve had a good turnout despite this English weather.”
Parish councillor Fiona Cowan said: “You spend months of planning and then you have to plan it all again on the morning of the event. But it’s wonderful to see so many faces here and it’s a great reason for people to come together and celebrate.”
