Rutland’s paper and cardboard recycling points at car parks, known as ‘bring sites’, will cease operating from February 1, but collections as part of regular household recycling will continue.

Rutland County Council said the decision was take because it will cost the authority £10,000 a year to operate.

Portfolio holder for recycling Martyn Pocock said: “Less than 2% of cardboard recycled by RCC is collected from ‘bring sites’ and this additional cost to tax payers would not make sense.”

Other recycling is unchanged. Visit the Rutland County Council website or call 01572 722 577.
