A memorial sign has been unveiled at a village hall following a donation from one of its stalwart supporters.

John Sewell was a dedicated member of Rippingale’s village hall committee for several years before he sadly died.

He left a donation to the committee in his will which was put towards installing a new sign above the entrance.

Representatives from a number of village groups, including the parish council, garden club, Women’s Institute and hall committee, were invited to the unveiling ceremony along with Mr Sewell’s family.

Secretary of the hall committee Wendy Gray said: “John was passionate about the village and always keen to help out with the village hall.

“When we finished the refurbishment, installing a new sign seemed a good way to say thank you to John for his work and for the village to remember him.”
