SCOUTS and cubs from Cottesmore have donated a ShelterBox after a year’s fundraising to help people living in areas hit by disaster.

The troop were award certificates for their efforts, which contributed toward their badge work.

The Rotary Club initiative provides a box costing £590 which is equipped with survival tools and shelter for up to ten people.

The 40 children of 2nd Cottesmore Scouts and Cubs raised the money through bag packing, collecting small change, and holding a tombola and raffle.

Scout group chairman Claire Pocock said: “It was a big lot of work done by small people but it shows the kids what can be achieved.
