Three charities were grateful to receive cheques for £1,000 each from an outgoing town mayor.

Coun Reg Howard ended his year at the helm of Market Deeping Town Council by donating money collected during his term to his nominated charities.

Coun Howard, 92, chose to support Macmillan Cancer Support, Sense Manor Lodge Centre in Church Street, Market Deeping, and Save The Children.

A presentation to Macmillan and Sense was made outside Market Deeping town hall on Thursday last week and a third cheque will be sent to Save The Children.

Principal MSI consultant at Manor Lodge Alex Oram said: “Donations like these mean that the centre can support even more deafblind children to learn, develop and achieve.”
