THE match must go on was the spirit of cricketers who took part in a jubilee charity match today (Monday) in Little Casterton.
Tolethorpe Cricket Club hosted the day and at 1pm the players had had enough of the rain and cricketers from the club took on Motley Crew from Bourne in a friendly game.
The spirits of bystanders were kept high by King Don on the Caribbean steel drums and organiser Nick Carr of East End, Langtoft, served hot food from the barbecue.
He said: “The golden jubilee was a bit flat so I thought we needed to do something.
“We built the pavilion a couple of years ago and still owe about £5,000 so I thought it’s be a good excuse to raise some money.
“The villagers have been fantastic but the real heroes of the day are the cricketers for carrying on despite the rain.”
