POLICE are appealing for help in tracking down two people who are accused of stealing £100 from a 96-year-old woman.
Stamford police have released CCTV pictures of the man and woman who are said to have watched the pensioner, from Stamford, put £100 in her bank book in the Halifax branch in High Street, Stamford, on May 17.
Officer say she was then followed to High Street and into the Marks and Spencer store.
They stood either side of the pensioner, the man had a jacket under his arm
The woman later found that the money and her bank book had been taken from her bag. Her purse had been left.
Police spokesman James Newall said: “This is clearly a premeditated offence against an elderly vulnerable member of our community from which they have stolen a subsequent amount of cash.
“It has had a profound effect on her. The pictures are extremely clear, anyone who knows these people will be able to identify them from the CCTV and we need the community to come together and provide us with information.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0300 111 0300.
