Thursday, 11.30am: Two people have been arrested after an attempted break-in at a mobile phone shop.

Police interrupted two burglars at the O2 shop in St Paul’s Street, Stamford, at about 1am on Monday.

They had smashed through a pane of glass in the front door to get into the shop before they were confronted by police.

They managed to escape the police and drove off in a silver van.

Nothing was taken during the break-in and the shop reopened for business on Tuesday morning.

A man, 27, and woman, 26, both from Northamptonshire, have been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
