Burglars target Stamford homes

POLICE have stepped up patrols after a number of burglaries at homes in Stamford.

On Saturday a home in Lonsdale Road was broken in to between 8pm and 11.45pm and an iPad 2 was stolen.

And last night (Sunday) a window was smashed and a number of items were stolen from a house in Sweetbriar, and a laptop and cash were taken from a home in Primrose Way.

Sector inspector for Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings, Mike Burnett, said: “We will be increasing patrols over the next four weeks to combat these burglaries.

“Burglars have been going round the back of houses and looking in through the windows.

“What we need is for residents to try and prevent this by drawing the curtains at the back of the house and leaving a light on if they are out.

“We also need people to call us if they see anyone acting suspiciously in their neighbourhood.

“We are doing everything we can to try and nip this in the bud.”

Police are also looking for witnesses after the passenger side of a silver Citroen in Foundry Road was scratched at some point last night (Sunday).

If you have any information on these crimes, call police on 101.
