POLICE in Rutland have received two cash amounts from the government to improve on motorway technology and criminal operations.

The Department for Transport has awarded £79,765 to Leicestershire Police which will be used to buy laser scanning technology to tackle the length of motorway closures after crashes.

The force has also been given £127,000 from the Home Office which was seized under the Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme which takes money from criminals and invests it into the force.
