POLICE say drivers will be fined if they park in pedestrian zones.

Police community support officer David Vines and his team have been handing out £30 on-the-spot fines to drivers parked in the Sheep Market and High Street areas of Stamford.

Parking is banned in these areas between 10am and 4pm, and only disabled badge holders with permits and loading vehicles can park there between 4pm and 10am.

Officer Vines said: “These areas are pedestrian access for a reason – to keep the public safe. We don’t want there to be an accident.”
