A MAN was given a community order with 80 hours of unpaid work for stealing 24 pictures from a hotel.
Jonathan Congreve, 35, of Market Place, Fakenham, admitted stealing the pictures from The George Hotel, Stamford, on November 11.
District judge Richard Blake was told at Spalding Magistrates Court yesterday that Congreve stayed at the hotel and left with a heavy suitcase.
Police went to Congreve’s home and the stolen pictures were on the walls there.
Solicitor Andrea Clarke, mitigating, said Congreve had had far too much to drink and was grieving for his mother who had died.
