Jewellery stolen in raid on Oakham home

A diamond engagement ring was among several items stolen from a home.

Police have appealed for witnesses after the burglary, which took place in Holyrood Road, Oakham between 7.15pm and 8.30pm on Friday last week.

The thief forced open a back door to get into the house and stole jewellery including several watches, a diamond engagement ring with three stones, a five-diamond eternity band, a gold chain with an opal pendant, a Fuji Finepix camera and an HTC mobile phone.

Det Con Emmy Thresh, the investigating officer, said: “This incident happened during a very short space of time and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact us.

“Some of the items taken in this burglary have sentimental value and we would like to find those responsible.

“If you have any information about this incident or have been offered any jewellery for sale then please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4142 Emmy Thresh on 101.

Officers are also investigating the theft of industrial equipment from a business in Whissendine Road, Ashwell, between 4pm on January 15 and 6am on January 16.

Burglars also tried and failed to get into a shed in Main Street, Clipsham, between Thursday last week and Saturday.
