Phone lines not expected to be reconnected in Ryhall until Wednesday

A VILLAGE could be without phone lines or broadband until Wednesday.

About 300 Ryhall residents have been without the services since Friday morning after a high value cable theft on the A6121.

Thieves stole 900 metres of copper cable, cutting a majority the village off completely.

BT Openreach technicians have worked over the weekend to restore services to the village as quickly as possible.

This morning a BT spokesman said: “Some customers service is starting to come back and we will keep working until all service is restored and we expect that to take us into Wednesday.”

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact police on 0116 222 2222.
