POLICE chiefs are pleased with the success of a cost-cutting plan to close police stations and move officers into community buildings.
Uppingham police station is one of those which has been sold, with officers relocating to a room in the town hall which will be known as a beat office.
There will be 70 beat offices across Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Leicestershire police estates review was announced in July last year.
Uppingham was one of 12 police stations targeted to close. It has been sold to Uppingham School.
