Police initiative launched to warn Rutland residents of leaving their home in darkness

Police in Rutland have launched an initiative to warn residents of the dangers of leaving their home in darkness.

Light bulb-shaped leaflets are being put through the doors of homes in Rutland to warn residents about leaving lights off when they are not at home.

The action is part of a campaign to tackle burglary during the winter months.

Light timers are on sale at Oakham Police Station for the cost of £1.

The station’s front enquiry office is open Monday to Friday, from 10am to 2pm and from 2.45pm to 6pm.
