Police have asked Rutland residents to be on the look out for people taking part in illegal hare coursing.
Officers have received several reports of coursing across the county in recent weeks.
Police community support officer Steve Houghton is on the Rutland north beat team.
He said: “The recent spell of cold weather has seen an increase in reported incidents of hare coursing in Rutland.
“The frozen ground has unfortunately made access easier to what were waterlogged and inaccessible fields.
“The current outbreak of incidents have been focussed on the Market Overton and Teigh area and seem to occur mainly at the weekend.
“The main vehicles involved are a green Peugeot 406, a red Renault van and a silver Subaru 4x4 estate car.
“If you see what you consider to be anyone hare coursing or one of these vehicles parked up in a rural location, then if it is safe to do so record as much detail as possible then ring Leicestershire Police immediately by dialling 101.”
