POLICE are appealing for information after a man suffered a fractured eye socket and cheek bone in an assault.

The 24-year-old man received the injuries when he was punched by an unknown man. It happened on the ground floor of the Periwig pub in All Saints Place, Stamford, near the bar, at 1.20am on December 24.

As a result of the injuries, the victim had to have surgery to insert five screws in his cheek bone.

Police have only just released the information and say initial inquiries to trace a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident have failed.

They are keen to identify the man pictured in the CCTV image.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously in confidence on 0800 555 111.
