Police step up patrols to tackle vehicle thefts

POLICE have stepped up patrols in a towns and villages after a spate of thefts from vehicles.

Catalytic converters have been stolen from cars in Uppingham, Empingham and Wing over the last fortnight.

On Tuesday last week two chainsaws and a leaf blower worth £1,300 were stolen from a Land Rover in Mill Lane, Cottesmore.

On the same night tools worth £150 were stolen from a Mitsubishi in Well Street, Langham, and power tools and copper were stolen from a Citroen in Ryefield, Oakham.

Police have been checking number plates to identify cars linked with crimes.
