A couple whose car was vandalised have offered a reward to help trace whoever is responsible.

Colin and Theresa Bateman, of Cornwall Road, Stamford, discovered the roof of their red Astra convertible had been slashed 10 times on Friday night.

They parked it in Redcot Gardens at 8pm on Friday last week and discovered the damaged roof at 8.30am the next morning.

Mr Bateman, 71, said: “It looks like it has been deliberately slashed with something like a Stanley knife. There were cars parked all around it but they were fine, so it looks like it has been singled out.”

The roof has been temporarily patched up to make the roof watertight but Mr Bateman expects proper repairs will cost around £1,000.

The couple have offered a reward of £300 for anyone who can provide information which leads to an arrest.

Police are also hunting vandals who damaged a blue Peugeot in Essex Road on Monday night and a black Ford Fiesta in Marigold Close between 10am on October 15 and 6.30pm on October 27.
