Thieves have cut phone lines near North Luffenham for the third time in four months.
Police were called to Ketton Road, just outside the village, at 8.15pm last night (Thursday) to find a copper phone cable had been cut. Strapping had been tied around it and police believe the thieves were disturbed as they attempted to pull it from the ground.
BT has received 100 reports of faults and is hoping to start restoring service to customers tomorrow (Saturday).
In August, 1,200 homes were left without phone lines after thieves cut the copper cables in the same location. Just a month earlier thieves had tried to steal the cables from the same road. On both occasions the cables were not taken.
