UPDATE: Stamford man to appear in court after stabbing in town centre pub

A Stamford man has been charged with wounding with intent after a man was stabbed multiple times in the neck in a Stamford pub on Sunday, June 12.

Sean Mitchell, 45, of All Saints Street in Stamford, will appear before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today, June 14.

A 53-year-old Stamford man was been taken to Peterborough City Hospital following the attack in the St Mary’s Vaults Pub, in St Mary’s Street, at around 12.30pm on Sunday.

Detective Inspector Simon Bromiley, said: “This appears to be a premeditated attack in a busy pub where the victim has sustained multiple wounds to his neck. Thankfully his condition is not life threatening. I would urge anyone with information to make contact.”

Anyone who was in the St Mary’s Vaults pub or outside on St Mary’s Street around 1230 on Sunday 12 June and has any information that will help the police investigate this assault is asked to contact the 101 non-emergency number or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
