HUNDREDS of people enjoyed an annual fete and produce show yesterday (Sunday).
The fete, flower and produce show took place on the Middle Field in London Road, Uppingham, and about 200 people enjoyed the events in the afternoon.
As well as the flower and produce show, there was also lots to do for the youngsters. There was an appearance by Wally the clown, who delighted the children who attended, bouncy castles and slides and children’s games including a bunge-away course.
There was also a dog show, Zumba demonstrations, trade stands and a Pimms tent, as well as refreshments.
The show was also opened by Murray Hockeridge, who appeared on BBC’s The Voice, and also performed during the show.
The bad weather meant the organising committee used more of the hard standing area and that the number of fruit and vegetable classes in the produce show were down.
But there were still between 250 and 300 entries from 56 people across 77 classes.
Secretary of the show committee Michelle Blackford said it was a fantastic day with blue sky and sunshine for much of the afternoon.
She said: “We had a smashing day and I would say there was a good couple of hundred people throughout the day.
“At the very beginning it rained but thankfully it didn’t last long and the prizes for the produce show were given out as usual.
“There wasn’t as much fruit and veg in the produce show but the numbers were up in the handicraft classes. We were expecting that the produce wouldn’t do as well but we were really pleased with the number of entries overall.
“It really was a fantastic show. I think everyone enjoyed it.”
