A GYM is holding a food drive to support the Evergreen Care Trust.
The women-only gym in St Mary’s Street, Stamford is asking members to donate non-perishable food for the trust which supports elderly people by offering a variety of services including meals-on-wheels, a soup delivery service and a befriending scheme.
The gym has supported the charity for the last four years.
Curves circuit coach Charlotte Rose said: “We want to show that women are stronger when they stick together.
“Last year was very successful and we only asked for 1lb of food per person.
“Curve gyms do it every year, all across the would and we chose to support a local charity.
“We chose Evergreen because we have young and old members and we feel they could really benefit from our support.”
To help bolster support for the charity drive Curves is waiving its joining fee, which is normally £119, for anyone who donates a grocery bag of food during the first two weeks of March.
Evergreen Care Trust was established in May 2005 by volunteers from local churches to help care for older and vulnerable people who fall out the remit of the NHS or social services.
The collection will run throughout March, anyone who wants to find out more should contact the gym on 01780 766978.
