DEEPINGS Lions Club Carnival is going ahead tomorrow (Saturday) come rain or shine.

Organisers of the carnival are confident the event will go ahead despite the heavy rain overnight.

The carnival will take place on the John Eve Field in Market Deeping. It opens at 11am and runs through to about 5pm.

Mayor of Market Deeping Reg Howard will officially open the event at midday and a new carnival Queen will also be crowned.

A range of events are taking place throughout the afternoon including demonstrations from Amplified, the karate club, Footwork gymnastics, Ministry of Dance, Lee Hobbs dog training and agility and performances from vocalist Graham James.

There will also be a £50 prize draw and a selection of stalls selling goods, food and drink available for people to enjoy.

The Riverside Festival in Stamford, which was due to take place tomorrow, has been cancelled.
