Deputy Lord Lieutenants appointed to help represent Queen in Rutland

THREE people have been chosen to be deputy Lord Lieutenants for the year 2011/2012.

Elizabeth Mills, of Ashwell, Peter Lawson, of Lyddington, and Richard Adams, of Oakham, will support the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Laurence Howard.

The Lord Lieutenant is the Queen’s personal representative in Rutland and undertakes many duties throughout the year on her behalf.

Dr Howard said: “They (the deputies) are all extremely proud to be associated with Rutland and are already heavily involved in various community activities and initiatives.”

Mrs Mills is a former High Sheriff and is chairman of Rutland Macmillian Cancer Support. Mr Lawson is the current High Sheriff of Rutland and the founder of “Arts for Rutland”.

Mr Adams is a former town clerk and is involved in Oakham Town Partnership, the Victoria Hall committee and Britain in Bloom.
