A charity dinner dance was held at Barnsdale Lodge in memory of Jan Smith, of Ryhall, who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in 2011.

It was organised by Jan’s family and has so far raised more than £5,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK. The event included a raffle, auction and had entertainment from The Houndogs and Xtreme Roadshow disco.

Jan’s family thanked local businesses that supported this cause including: The Olive Branch, Clipsham; Sandalls, Bourne; United Vanliners, Market Deeping; The George Hotel ,Stamford; Ryhall Stores; Rutland Water Cycle Hire; Travis Perkins; Wellie Boots.com, Barnack; Eden, Bourne; Greensleeves, Casterton; The Lord Burghley, Stamford; The Green Dragon, Ryhall; and Barnsdale Lodge.

The family held a dance in 2012, which, with other events, raised £9,000 for the charity which funds research into the disease.
