A WATER company has been granted permission for a drought permit in preparation for next summer.
Anglian Water, which supplies homes across the area, wants to take water from the River Nene at Wansford from December 13 over the winter to help refill Rutland Water.
The reservoir is currently two thirds full, well below the level which would be expected at this time of year. Anglian Water has said that it will only put the permit to use of there is not a lot of rain over the winter and spring.
Severn Trent Water which supplies homes in Rutland has not applied for any drought permits yet.
