SHOPPERS have helped a group of children to learn that saving the pennies soon adds up to pounds.
The Anglia Co-operative store at the Burghley Centre in Bourne donated a penny to Bourne Abbey Primary Academy for every receipt its customers handed in. They raised £200.
Store manager Gavin Price said: “The school is an important part of our community. We’re really pleased to be able to support it.”
Headteacher Cherry Edwards said the money which will go towards the school’s £30,000 library upgrade.
Mrs Edwards said: “We already have a silver surfers club at our school for grandparents to learn more about technology and we hope the new facilities can be used by even more of the community.”
