A YOUNGSTER has raised about £400 for his primary school by completing an 80-mile coastal walk.

Luke Broughton, 11, spent four days walking around the Isle of Wight with his dad Phil and their pet dog Tess.

Luke wanted to complete the challenge to say thank you to staff at Barnack Primary School before he joins Arthur Mellows Village College in Glinton in September.

The trio started the challenge in strong winds on Friday last week and finished on Monday. Luke, who was also carrying his camping gear, walked an average of 20 miles a day.

Dad Phil, of Kingsley Close, Barnack, said: “I am delighted and so proud and I think it is an amazing thing.

“There were incredibly high winds and rain on Friday.

“Luke knuckled down and got his teeth into it. He did very well.”
