These green-fingered house captains from Bourne Abbey Primary Academy have been making sure their town centre will have a splash of colour this winter.

Just before half-term Year 6 pupils rolled up their sleeves and re-planted the academy’s planter in the town centre. Accompanied by site manager Michael Pateman and teaching assistant Karen Phillips the team set out to dig the soil in the town planter, which has been adopted by the school, and planted a host of brightly coloured winter pansies, leaving the planters looking fresh and bright and ready to face the winter.

Sam Dix is captain of the school’s Canary House. She said: “It was an honour to represent the school as a house captain, planting in the town centre and making the local environment look nice. It was an enjoyable thing to do and I was excited and proud to take part”
