The top sporting talents at a Bourne school have picked up awards presented by three-times Olympian javelin thrower Goldie Sayers.

The British women’s record holder was the guest of honour at Bourne Grammar School’s annual sports presentation evening on July 9.

Goldie returned to Bourne where she took part in the Olympic torch relay.

Pupils celebrated a successful year with awards in: netball, hockey, basketball, football, cross-country, swimming, rowing, tennis, athletics, cricket and rugby at school, county, regional and at national level.

Goldie, who is based in Cambridge and competed in the 2012 London Olympics despite injury, spoke inspiringly to the hall-full of students who had come with their parents to receive hundreds of awards for their sporting successes over the year.
