A scout group has been given a donation by the Freemasons to help send members of their troop to the 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Japan.

The Lodge of Aveland, which meets at the New Masonic Centre in Roman Bank, Bourne, donated £500 to the
1st Bourne Scout Group.

The Lodge is part of part the Lincolnshire Province of Freemasons and the money donated is part of a total of £68,000 given to local charities and organisations throughout the county this year.

Lodge secretary Barry Harriman presented the cheque to representatives of the group and their leaders at Wake House in Bourne on Thursday last week.

Group leader Greg Cejer thanked the lodge on behalf of the scouts for the generous donation. The money is the start of their fundraising which will be taking place over the next year.
