PUPILS were transported back to ancient Greece last week through a visit from Sir Teachalot.

Ashley Holt, the time-travelling teacher, visited Brooke Priory School in Oakham as the character of Aeschylus, a famous Greek playwright, who whisked the children in Year 4 into a world of swords, battles, games and, of course, the Olympics.

The children were given the opportunity to handle a range of fascinating artefacts from Grecian history.

They also dressed up and were delighted to re-enact some fearsome conflicts, enjoying the chance to bellow as they mock charged each other.

Headteacher Elizabeth Bell said “Aeschylus was an imposing fellow and certainly brought history to life for us.”

Children at Brooke Priory are celebrating the London Olympics by incorporating the history and culture of them into their learning.
