Catmose College honours its prize-winning pupils

Catmose College in Oakham marked the successes and achievements of its pupils at its annual presentation evening.

Last year’s Year 11 pupils returned to the school to collect their GCSE certificates, as well as celebrate their achievements with staff and friends.

In addition to their GCSE certificates, some pupils also won specific prizes based on their progress and contribution throughout their time at the school.

The guest speaker was the High Sheriff of Rutland, Bart Hellyer, who gave the students an inspirational speech about overcoming the challenges faced in life and begin prepared for the unexpected. Drawing on personal experiences, he talked about the importance of friendships and building relationships with others to help the students be successful throughout their lives.

Also in attendance was the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Laurerence Howard, who presented his own award.

School principal Stuart Williams, said: “It was a fantastic evening of celebration.

“This year group have worked extremely hard together, both in their academic and personal lives.

“They celebrate not only a fantastic set of GCSE results, but also their time together at Catmose College.

“I wish every single one of them the very best for their future and I know they will all do extremely well.”
