Pupils at Catmose College learn tips from BBC journalists Tim Muffett and Jim Buchanan

JOURNALISM experts have been in Oakham sharing their skills with Catmose College pupils ahead of their involvement in the BBC News School Report on March 15.

The project is an opportunity for pupils aged 11 to 16 to engage with current affairs while making and broadcasting their own news stories, setting their agendas and publishing stories.

The school, which is taking part for the third year, played host to BBC Breakfast reporter Tim Muffett and deployment editor for BBC UK newsgathering Jim Buchanan, who dished out tips to the students.

Tim said: “I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of the students. They asked me some interesting questions which shows how much they think about the news.”
