Reading was at the heart of a special day of activities celebrating books at schools around the area.

Youngsters at Malcolm Sargent Primary School, Langtoft Primary School, South Witham Primary School, Morton Primary School and Thurlby Primary School dressed up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day on Thursday last week.

Pupils also took part in special activities themed around books, including writing their own stories and creating plays based on some of their favourite stories.
