A WOMAN who dedicated 37 years teaching primary school children has retired.

Di Wilson taught at Langham Primary School and before that, Ferrers Primary School in Oakham.

The children at Langham school held a special assembly and all of the year groups each made her a book with pictures and messages in it.

In return Di gave the school an apple tree and a hazel tree to plant in the nature garden.

Headteacher Janet Lord said: “Di is an excellent teacher and she will be greatly missed by all of us, staff and children.

“She had an excellent rapport with parents because she built up a really positive relationship with them.

“Di was really looking forward to her retirement.

“I know she planned to look after her grandchildren, take day-time exercise classes and generally have more time to spend with her family at the weekends.”
