A village pre-school has been branded as outstanding for the care and education it offers to young children.
Ketton Pre-School received a glowing Ofsted report following a recent inspection.
Manager Penny Butcher was delighted with the ‘outstanding’ rating which followed a rating of ‘good’ in the pre-school’s last inspection in 2010.
At the time staff were told to look for more opportunities to expand the children’s learning and personal development.
Following the latest visit, inspector Stephanie Douglas said: “Staff consistently show high quality teaching skills and provide a rich, varied, challenging and imaginative range of learning opportunities.
“They have an excellent understanding of how children learn and as a result children are extremely confident, enthusiastic learners who make excellent progress from their starting points.”
The pre-school was also praised for its “inspirational leadership”, the importance placed on the children’s welfare and the positive relationships between staff and children.
To improve further the staff have been asked to extend the opportunities for children to express their own creative ideas.
