A secondary school will be run by a principal in a non-teaching role after a leadership reshuffle.
Robert Sloan has been appointed acting principal of Charles Read Academy in Corby Glen.
Mr Sloan replaces current principal Ali Story, who will focus exclusively on teaching science.
The school was taken over by the David Ross Education Trust in June. Chief executive of the trust Wendy Marshall said: “Those who have been taught by or know the current principal, Ali Story, will be fully aware of her passion for science.
“Her enthusiasm for the subject is infectious; instilling a love of science in young people is what inspired her to become a teacher.
“Ali has considered what the needs of the academy are going forward.
“As a result, it has been decided that she will refocus her efforts on the development of teaching and learning with science.”
“I have every confidence that this success will continue under Robert’s leadership.
“I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say that I would like to express my personal thanks to Ali. She has been a fantastic servant to Charles Read Academy over what has been a very turbulent few years. The fact the there is still a school in Corby Glen is, in part, testament to her hard work and dedication.
“This is an exciting time for everyone associated with Charles Read, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.”
