Sporty children have been celebrating success in football and athletics.

Teams from Linchfield Primary School in Crowson Way, Deeping St James, took part in a variety of tournaments against schools from the Deepings area
during the autumn term.

The Years 3 and 4 football team won six of their eight games, drawing one and
losing one to finish second overall.

Two teams entered both the boys’ and girls’ Years 5 and 6 competitions, with the boys doing particularly well. One team scored 23 goals and conceded just three in six matches, winning the tournament by six points. The other conceded just four goals but found it more difficult to score, and finished fourth.

In the girls’ competition, the teams finished fourth and sixth overall.

And the athletics team finished a strong second in their tournament with 353 points, just 16 behind the eventual winners.

Teacher Michael Hasler said: “I’m very proud of not only the success the children brought to Linchfield but the way they have behaved at each tournament. They’ve proven to be talented sports people as well as respectful of their opponents. Hopefully, more success will come this year.”
