A new £500,000 science block was officially opened at Witham Hall School on Friday by the visiting headteacher of Eton College.
Anthony Little, opened the new science and resource centre which was completed last month.
The facilities incorporate two new science laboratories, two extra classrooms, one of which is specifically equipped for the teaching of modern languages, and a new library and resource centre.
Witham Hall School headteacher Charles Welch said: “This new and outstanding level of provision further promotes our commitment to academic excellence across the breadth of the curriculum but, given the initiative that underpinned the project.
“I am particularly delighted that the imagination, enthusiasm and ambition within science at Witham will no longer be constrained by available laboratory space.
“The addition of purpose built and enhanced teaching facilities, as well as a new and extended library and resource centre further serve to highlight the enormous benefits this building will bring to the school and those within it.”
Mr Welch thanked governors, staff, architect Steve Dunn, and contractors GN Construction for their roles in the design and development of the facilities, recognising the outstanding work of the non-teaching staff at the school in bringing the project to completion.
