Former Bourne Grammar School pupil takes top civil service job

A former Bourne Grammar School pupil has been appointed to a senior civil service posts in the country, which requires approval by the Prime Minister.

Mark Sedwill, who attended Bourne Grammar School between 1976 and 1983 before continuing his studies at St Andrew’s University and later at Oxford University, has become the permanent secretary at the Home Office.

Headteacher Jonathan Maddox said: “It is always good to hear news about former students’ careers but this really does stand out as a phenomenal achievement.

“I very much hope that he will be able to visit Bourne Grammar School at some point in the future, possibly as guest speaker.”
