THE principal of Uppingham Community College said she was delighted with the exceptional achievements of pupils.

In the GCSE results, 83 per cent of the pupils gained five or more A* to C grades, with significant successes for a number of pupils.

The school is expecting this to increase further as it is waiting for English language results.

Katie Wickham, Amelia Grice and Ben Hickman all achieved 11 A and A* grades. Ben Allen, Miriam Brittenden, Alex Caskey-Jones, Francesca Collins, Katie Frearson, Marcus Griffiths, Kitty Kirton, Lorlor Osborn, Florrie Parsons, Emma Rata, Rudi Vizma, Ed Wright and Will Yallop each gained an impressive 10 or more A and A* grades.

More than 30 pupils gained seven or more A and A* grades.

All the pupils who took vocational courses on day release at local colleges also passed their exams.

Principal Jan Turner said: “I am extremely pleased that the hard work and efforts of our young people have been reflected in these outstanding results. I wish them every success in their future career paths.”
