A headteacher has been commended in a national teaching competition.
Sue Hooley of English Martyrs Academy, Oakham, and St Augustine’s Academy, Stamford, was a runner-up in the headteacher category of the Pearson Teaching Awards.
Mrs Hooley has been the headteacher at English Martyrs Academy for eight years and head at St Augustine’s for five years. The competition attracted 2,500 entries.
Mrs Hooley picked up her certificate in front of pupils and teachers at English Martyrs Academy’s Thank a Teacher Day assembly today (Friday).
Thank a Teacher Day is an annual event which is run by the Pearson Teaching Awards to give pupils a chance to thank their teachers.
Mrs Hooley was nominated for the award by school governor Helen Penny.
